Tired of Saying 'Hi'

by - May 31, 2016

Following up to the previous uni post (since I still haven't started to have any classes), it's just another day of meeting new people and briefings/ introduction. The bus was delayed for like an hour this morning... ONE FREAKIN HOUR. We were pretty much clueless as it is with no guidance whatsoever and this morning itself we were told not to get on that 7am shuttle bus SUDDENLY. Well, because that was when the facilitators decided to show up out of no where /dignose

After we got in to the right bus, well took me awhile to realise this but the trip took about 30 mins from our hostel to the main campus. That's a long heck ride. Pretty much the amount of time it took me from KJ to KLCC for work. Deja-vu, they said... The ride was a direct pathway with no-stop, should I add.

After I arrived inside the campus, I found out that we were late. YEAH WE WERE LATE. Psftt yeah bcos we were in-charge of the bus travelling time kann? -__-"

We got into lines which is when we were divided into faculties. UTeM has like 5 faculties for diploma students btw. There were about 500 diploma students who accepted the offer and registered yesterday. And specifically in my faculty we have 111 undergraduates in total (the most number for a faculty under diploma). The average is more towards girls in that faculty but overall in the university was more towards boys since it is a technical university. My faculty - in case you haven't know - is known as FTMK (Fakulti Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi aka Faculty of Information Technology and Communication) so we can assume girls are more into the IT world rather than engineering world, amirite?

Just now we got our first 2 weeks of timetable! And my housemates are already deciding to go home smh. So for my semester khas (before the real sem starts on September), we have to take up 3 mandatory classes for diploma students. Namely Foundation English, Philosophy of Science and Technology and lastly, Islamic and Asian Civilization. This whole sem is about 2 and a half months or so... it's not too long anyways.

By like noon, we went to the cafeteria for lunch then went to the beautiful mosque for our Zuhur prayers. At that time, I gave up on making new friends. I will introduce myself to one person and she will disappear from my sight the next moment. It's pretty annoying after sometime so I decided to be lonely for the rest of the noon hahaha. Not like it's anything bad. All I have to do is endure the moment of having nobody sitting beside me when we enter the bus, having to seat at random tables during lunch and literally feel lost in my own world. Sounds bad, right? Well, I got used to that. It's better than joining cliques of people you aren't comfortable with. But the people there aren't so bad, they're friendly like how new kids usually act.

Our meals are prepared except for proper lunch. They only prepared some bread with drinks for breakfast and tea time. As for dinner (which was after the loooong briefing), we were handed a pack of nasi tomato with ayam masak merah, an apple and a bottle of drinking water each.

It was a good first-look of the whole uni life. But it was too little information on the university activities itself. Looks like I'll eventually need to find out things myself then. I really am looking forward to the clubs and societies.

Dropping by,
Melynn.
