I kid you not, 70% of my money goes to food throughout this January. There's no other purpose for this entry other than sharing most (if not all) the costly food I spent my hard-earned money on while hanging out with my friends. Also lots of them are my first time so I might still mention those that I didn't manage to snap a pic of.

More-than-once gallery:

1.
Kyochon
Second time here. And also tried their chicken strips. Twas a yummy addition.

2.
XO and D88 durians
The only time I know what kind of durian I was eating lol.

3.
Coconut drink
4.
Family Mart's matcha soft serve
Second time enjoying it. Just found out they have Family Mart at Paradigm Mall, PJ lol so close.

First timer's gallery:

1.
Caffe Bene's choc and cheese promo bingsu
Ka Mun's recommendation. Love the cheesecake, the choc and cheese combo mixes really well but the cheese was in shreds and I don't quiet prefer it like that but oh well.

2.
Hanbing

It's their strawberry one, first time trying THIS flavour. I've tried their mango bingsu before. I got to say that I like how soft the shaved ice is compared to Caffe Bene, however the portion might be a little too small and the toppings are too minimal for its standard bingsu price.

3.
Dal.komm's chocolate shake promo and Shibuya toast
My second visit to Dal.komm Coffee and we ordered these. I enjoy the shake a lot, but the toast was lacking of taste other than simply sweet and toasty hard, so it was a bit of a let down considering their cruffin was veryyy tasty!

4.
Mikey's New York Pizza
I've been wanting to try their pizza and finally tried their Bianca pizza which is basically pizza with 4 types of cheese. The cheesy taste was good, but the portion was a bit too big. Yes it's filling but a bit too much of the same kind... cepat muak.

5.
Caffe Bene's sweet potato promo bingsu
The first taste of it was different from what we expected. The ice cream was not so sweet ironically. But as we reach the center of the bingsu, it's filled with this sweet chewy stuff (which I don't know what it's call) and it just made it taste a LOT better. All in all, an okay combo.

6.
Llaollao (pronounced yao-yao)
Finally tried this thangg. One word - masammm. The yogurt and dark chocolate topping with biscuit crumbs and choc balls was good. Kinda remind me of Tutti Frutti.

7.
IKEA's RM1.50 froyo (ft. the meme queen)
Cheaper alternative would be this IKEA froyo top with strawberry sauce. To me just as good lol.

8.
Fish and Co.'s Swiss Fish and Chips
You may not believe it, but this is my first Fish and Co. dining experience. Quiet a shame because Ka Mun works there hahaha. First bite was sooo good. But half-way later, it just gets too oily and hard to eat.

9. Jibril's butter chicken with white rice (at SS15)

Not kidding, it's VERY nice but too much of it is not. Also the butter beer it came with was also the BOMB. Only problem is the pub-like place is very tersorok and too dim.

10. IKEA's lemon & herb roasted chicken

Very filling indeed and the lemon and herb balances the taste just nice.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And so, there goes my savings for basically the whole sem. ALL of the food mentioned were eaten anywhere around January 2018 and today (1st Feb), in no exact order. Of course, banyaaakk lagi makanan beli but ni je yang worth mentioning.

So future Amelynn, if you're wondering why your duit kurang and berat naik... Pls don't question it.

I had the NEW McDonald's Spicy Korean Burger on its releasing day which was on the 25th July. I was already out with Ka Mun and we both thought we should try it while we're at it. But we found out then and there that it was a beef burger. We seriously thought that it'd be a chicken burger. Like how Korean are also famous for its fried chicken but boy, were we wrong... Since it's beef, our Ms. Leong here cannot eat them. But for me, I really wanna give it a try so I was the only one who ordered it.

When I first opened the box, the burger looked very messy. There's all kinds of veggies inside and they were all spilling out. The patty looked similar to any other beef patties - thin and plain dark - nothing surprising. The only sauce I noticed was the cheese on the veggies. I took my first bite without dipping in the chili sauce because I wanted to try the pure taste of it. And little did I know, I never dipped my burger in at all.

The first bite took me a long time trying to digest the spiciness. Initially, I thought the spice was really lacking. But after I chewed on longer, they finally hit those taste buds. The burger was goood. Something about the patty just seemed right. The kimchi sauce that marinates it plus the combination between the charcoal bun and the cheese sauce really boost up the taste. I loved it!! The spiciness was on-point for me.

I don't know if it's just me, but the size of the burger felt satisfying too. I took quite a number of bites so it was enough for me.

It also came with the crispy cut-fries. They're very little compared to the usual french fries. It's crispy, but it really felt like eating a mini cracker rather than fried potato. I prefer the normal fries. Or at least the cut-fries can be made bigger in size so it'll be more worth it.

The price though... was expensive. I get that it's a promotional burger, but RM16 for a medium set with small amount of cut-fries, quite a bum. Even BurgerLab's charcoal burgers can get much more filling with that same price. I didn't know we can get a Fanta grape OR the usual coke for it, and I usually don't take coke so I changed it (not knowing Fanta grape is part of the promotion) to a Sprite... boooo!! Talk about not being well-informed. Ugh.

Overall, McDonald's Spicy Korean Burger is worth a try. I'd eat it again if I get the chance to. I think having ala-carte would be a good option for this burger considering the fries are just meh. So I'd give it a 7/10 for the great and tasty burger. Hopefully a chicken version would be up next!

Disclaimer: NOT A SPONSORED POST. I just enjoy eating the burger.

Before leaving for university, I met up with my close bunch this week. It's been a great last week settling things here at home.

I had a trip to Sunway Pyramid for a meet-up with Ka Mun earlier today. If you decided to take public transportation to Sunway, there's a bus from Kelana Jaya LRT station (T873 if I'm not mistaken that's the new number for U623) heading towards Subang Parade. The bus fee from KJ LRT to Sunway is RM1.00 (RM0.80 with Touch'nGo) however the fee from Sunway to KJ LRT is RM1.90 (RM1.50 with Touch'nGo). The route is longer on the way back to the LRT station so that explains the extra cost. Make sure you prepare exact change for the ticket fee though.

Our purpose there was to hang out for the last time before I leave for uni on Monday. So we decided to go karaoke. It can be considered my first time karaoke-ing with a friend. We went to Red Box at about 11.30am and was there during their lunch hour. The range of price at that time was between RM19 to RM22 (price may vary from time-to-time according to location) including meal and drinks per head. We were given 11.30am until 3pm slot and I think it was pretty reasonable.

Refer their website for more details about prices.
The food provided was indeed very satisfying and surprisingly good. Not bad for the price range.

After our lil karaoke sesh, we went cafe hopping. In my dreams we did. We only went to 카페베네 (pronounced: car-pay-bear-nah) to try their bingsu - my first bingsu. We got ourselves Choco Bene Bingsu for RM19.80 (for the single size, yes there's also double). Their presentation is pretty neat. "Very instagram worthy", so Ka Mun said.

Freezy goodness

Soft brownie, red beans, oreos, koko crunch and any other chocolatey stuff that comes with it.

The combination of ingredients are vvv yummeh. I'd definitely come for more bingsu somewhere in the future. I probably should try bingsu-hopping next time around /wahaha

During Christmas day this year I went to have a lil celebration for my 8As in PMR. My aunt decided to treat me lamb at Cozy House Restaurant in Great Eastern Mall, KL since my dad told her that I love eating mutton or lamb so much. FYI, my family and I had never been to the mall before.

From what I know, Great Eastern is an insurance company. So the company must have been rich enough to build their very own mall. But anyway, it was also my first time dining at Cozy House.

We came at around 11:30am if I'm not mistaken. When we arrived there were barely anyone in the restaurant, I only saw like a family or two in there.

I ordered the black pepper lamb chop.

Mah food!!
We waited for about 10 minutes or so until the drink came. I ordered a chocolate milkshake for myself and the black pepper lamb chop as the main dish. By the time my food arrived, I noticed more people filling the emptiness in the restaurant and it's not even 1pm yet.

FOOD
Well, I've tried a few lamb chop and to be honest this one doesn't disappoint me. I know the food presentation doesn't look as expensive as the price they offer but the quality of the lamb definitely said otherwise. Normally, the lamb chops I ate sometimes too thin or too hard to chew but this is neither. The meat is soft but thick... It was cook just nicely. The gravy was also thick and not watery which is exactly how I like my black pepper sauce to be. There was 3 pieces of lamb on my plate and when I'm eating my 2nd piece, I can tell that I am almost full which is good since it shows how satisfying the food was.

Then after the food we had a banana split as dessert. Nothing special bout it.

By the time we ordered the dessert the place was fully-packed. I was surprised by how famous this restaurant is lol. Also, I'm not gonna say anything bout the meals that my family ate since I forgot what they ordered so don't bother to know. And for the price, I think it's very reasonable since the quality of my food really satisfy my appetite and tummy.

If I were to give any star for this restaurant, maybe I would give ☆☆☆ out of 5.  The reason is because the lack of effort in their food presentation and the service given was lack of friendliness since the waitress who served us didn't even smile. But other than that, I would definitely recommend this place in the future.

P.S. All photos are taken by my dad so credits for the non-quality pics goes to him.

Xx,
Melynn.
