If the poster doesn't ring the bell yet, then let me just tell you. Well, by now I bet most of the teenagers already heard of this movie called DIVERGENT.

Earlier today, Ka Mun and I went to watch Divergent at 1Utama. We both read the book so obviously we had expected something beforehand. Now let me tell you what I think after watching it.

Okay before I continue my rant let me give ya an early warning. THIS IS BASED ON MY PERSONAL POINT OF VIEW. I DON'T TOLERATE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T ACCEPT MY OPINION BUT I ALSO DON'T EXPECT YOU TO AGREE WITH IT.

WARNING: THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS SO IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCH IT BETTER NOT READ ANY FURTHER THAN THIS.

Firstly, let's start with the main characters. Shailene Woodley and Theo James. I am fine with Shailene being Tris because to me she honestly fit as a 16 years old teenager but Theo... No offence to any Theo fans but Four is meant to be 18 years old and have this some kind of spark with Tris. I don't know if it was just me but I can't feel the chemistry between Four and Tris in the movie not as much as in the book. Through out the movie believe me, I tried changing my thought towards Theo but NO he just not that kind of dude to be playing Four. Halfway through the movie, I started to think the guy playing Al fits Four better than Theo.

Secondly, the movie lacks SO MUCH of details that if you didn't read the book the movie basically won't make any sense. At the beginning itself, no explanation were given about how the changing of faction works and that they can choose their own faction at the age of 16 and what not. There was also some characters who wasn't that important to be featured like Tris and Caleb's neighbour, Susan and Robert which I think still plays a role in the book. It's like they never existed. Okay fine maybe that's not such a big deal.

But then you have a different kind of situation. Beatrice's mum and Will died at the wrong time and place. It was so obvious how it trailed off so far than where it should've happen. Then towards the part where Tris was 'saving' Tobias during the war, the place was not what I remembered reading from the book. Tobias was in the Control Room because he's a computer programmer NOT sitting blindly while the Erudites were busy doing all the controlling.
THEY LITERALLY CHANGE THE WHOLE FACT! /shock Don't even get me started on how Eric was introduced at the wrong scene. Or that Al was supposed to have a crush on Tris.

I could go on and on with this.
In the movie there was neither Visiting Day nor there was a proper Dauntless Initiation Day like I imagined. Tris's mum was supposed to tell Tris to ask Caleb about the serum that Erudites has been working on but it was no where near that. Everything seems jumbled up and becoming nonsense. Also during the Initiation Day, all the Dauntless were supposed to be watching the initiates in their fear landscape though only certain people can see what they are going through but in the movie it was so sudden that Tris were the only one to be called to enter her fear landscape while she's surrounded by Erudites.
It felt really weird and there wasn't any flow to the plot. /blur

I understand that maybe time was a big problem but at least add some sense into the plot. The part of the movie that's based on the book was basically the 5 factions, the love story between Tris and Four, the simulation war and all BUT the original plot from the book. It was kinda a let down since I didn't expect much changes. It could be better though. I still love the book... just maybe a little too much.

Just so you know, I've been playing truant. Nah jokess but lately I HAVE not been entering class. The reason is because surprisingly I am getting more occupied with co-curriculum activities or in other words I AM BEING TOO ACTIVE. /sweat

Firstly, I had missed 1 week of class a week before exam because I had Malay debate competition. Well, the competition didn't take up all 5 days but the practice definitely had. Then, I'm also representing my school in the Malay public speaking competition (as told in my previous entry) which happen to be during the exam week. After that, the week right after my exam I have KOMSAS drama inter-class competition (it's basically Malay literature). My class did "Tiang Cengal Dinding Sayung" from the form 5 KOMSAS book and since we haven't started practicing we were struggling preparing all the props, memorizing our lines and change certain scenes.

The day before the competition, we literally JUST done editing our whole script. It was totally last minute for some of us to memorize our parts. But we had to because our play happen to be 50 minutes when it was only supposed to be less than 30 minutes. Surprisingly, my part didn't change so that's a relieve.

Getting to the part of the competition where my class is performing (we performed last btw), our play started well (though it was quite boring) UNTIL some of us got confuse and messed up some scenes. Not to mention, the end bell was rang 10 minutes before we could actually end the play. Some of us were having trouble with the exchange of head mics. URGH IT WAS CHAOTIC BACKSTAGE. We got down the stage feeling pretty upset because honestly speaking, we didn't perform our best. But that was put aside, when my class was announced the 3rd place. I was just like "WHAT THE HELL?!?". Personally, it felt like pidato all over again. We didn't expect to get anything because we were so bad but we glad we won though it's probably by luck.

I've been getting bronze a lot lately aha. But I'm glad I received something... Alhamdullilah.

The runner-up was 4 Kemanusiaan Nyatoh with their play from the drama "1400" from the form 5 KOMSAS book. They had spiritual scenes and mixture of drama along the way (obviously) so it was funny and enjoyable.

And the winner was 4 Sains Belian with "Cempaka Berdarah" from the form 4 KOMSAS book. Their acting was great and their props was managed well... It was a good job =D> There were also fake blood and some romance drama happening between the 'adopted sister' and the brother. Well overall I would say, they deserved to win. Both classes were good nonetheless.

There ya go! Thanks for reading, I'll be sure to update more soon. BTW IT'S THE SCHOOL HOLIDAY YAWW!

Hye darls!
Okay maybe not. Anyway, last post was basically what happened 2 weeks ago that I forgot to post last week. Sorry but I'm currently dealing with my short-term memory problem here. Moving on, last week was another hectic week though it was less hectic.

From Monday to Wednesday, I was basically staying back to practice my pidato (aka Malay public speaking) with my amazing history teacher, Ms. Nadia to help me with my script for Part 1 of the competition. Yes you heard me right... there is more than one part . Haih. The first part is pidato teks which means you can talk based on whatever topic you choose and the script that you prepared for. The other part is pidato spontan, where they'll tell you to choose one envelope on the day of competition. Inside the envelope there's the title of your pidato and you are given 1 minute to prepare yourself without any help (including pen, paper or anyone... literally). Then another 3 minutes to talk.

My competition was on Thursday (13th March) and was held at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 3. I left school at around 7.30am with Ms. Zatia. It was just the two of us. I am the ONLY one who went for the competition representing my school.
Can you feel the pressure I'm getting?? /blur

Once we arrived at the school and after my teacher park her car, I turn to look at my teacher and to no surprise I saw my brother in the next car. Yes, my brother also happen to represent his school for the competition. Yay to competition among siblings! After we got out of the car, we firstly have to register ourselves. And turns out, my brother got turn number 10 while I got number 9. Yeah coincidence much. Since our numbers are next to each other, we are ask to sit side by side. It's like we are meant to see each other even outside of the house. But I'm not gonna complain because my brother kinda help me be more confident to have someone I'm actually familiar with.

Then it begins. The first part, I did well I guess despite the fact I was talking too fast at first and kinda forgot everything once I'm half way through. But the second part, was an embarrassment to me. I got the title "Permainan Tradisional Wajar Dipelihara" which means traditional games are worth being preserved or something like that so during the 1 minute given I was too busy thinking for 2 points of what I wanted to talk about, I wasn't thinking of how I'm gonna start my speech. So my starting was full of crap. I was literally translating everything from English to Malay then my tongue decided to get tied... so all in all to me it sounded really horrible.

Just so you know, in the Petaling Utama district there's 22 participants so being a single-digit participant I got bored pretty quickly especially after the second part. The competition was held in the school's library. Heh you can probably tell what I did while waiting, yes, reading. Basically flipping through some of the books closest to my seat. Luckily there's something I could do or else I would probably fell asleep while waiting. Then before I know it, it was time for the prize giving.

"Tempat ketiga jatuh kepada... Nuramelynn Izzaty binti Hisham dari SMK(P) Sri Aman" /shock
What the hell?! Is that for real? Never did I thought I - who literally talked crap - could win anything. Especially getting third place out ouf 22 other participants in the district. Anyway I got a certificate and a cheap trophy.

The trophy is nothing much. My journey is like a trillion miles away from ending. This would be my motivation to improve. I'm glad I could be the child who brought back something, though my brother was better than me in my opinion. Basically there were more people better than me. "Why me?" is the question that'll forever stay in my head.

It was a great experience. Meeting new people and representatives from schools like SMK Sri Permata, SMK Assunta and SMK(L) Bukit Bintang. They were really friendly. And also some of them were actually from their respective school's perbahasan team too. Btw, it was exam week too so don't expect an A or B from me.

Well hello.
Long time no update meh sorry for that.

What happened last 2 weeks was basically... debate. HAHAHAHAHA yes that's right. But it wasn't in English though so 'perbahasan' is the  right word for it. Knowing me, I can talk. Obviously... but also knowing me, I can rarely understand what I said sooo that's the unbelievable part since I'm in the school team. /sweat

Now let me share with you how last 2 weeks had been for me.
Firstly, I skipped class for 4 days in a row. 2 days for practice and another 2 days for the perbahasan competition. YES HOORAYY FOR SKIPPING CLASS /wahaha
UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO FACE REALITY. HOMEWORK.
PILES AND PILES OF HOMEWORK /no

The competition was held in SMK Sultan Abdul Samad. Our first match was against SMK Taman Sea and it was unexpectedly easy since they weren't prepared at all. And the next day we had to face SMK Taman Petaling. 2 days before we compete with Taman Sea we only prepare ourselves with the first topic and later after we won we only had ONE DAY to get ready for the other topic the next day. For this, I would like to thank Google+ Hangout for being friendly and useful during our discussion that night. But unfortunately Taman Petaling won the match even though I was told by the judges that we lost by close margin so that kinda pissed me off. They also get to compete with the winner from the other zone - which I was told that it was SMK Damansara Jaya - after they won against SMK Assunta. Which I personally think they just won by luck because Assunta didn't even try to defend their statements and it was such an easy topic. Urghh this piss me off so much because we could've been 1000 times better than them but sadly what's past is past. Hopefully next year we could go even further than this insyaAllah.

After a weekday packed with debate stuff, last Saturday was spent with another annual school event - road run. Successfully I died with flying colours and managed to earn a medal for getting top 25 for P1 (also known as the class for form 4 and 5).

I got no. 24 yeaaah not that great... but AT LEAST I managed to earn something. /nobigdeal

It doesn't just stop there... because the week after that, another event happened. Malay. Public. Speaking. I shall continue to talk about it in the next post.

Xx,
Melynn.
